Welcome to Luna Mindful Infusions!
A ketamine infusion typically produces a feeling of relaxation and sedation that is often described as a "floating" sensation. Patients often report feeling calm and peaceful during the infusion, as well as a sense of well-bing. Some people may experience mild visual or auditory hallucinations, but these usually fade away after the infusion is complete.
Most people report a very pleasant experience during therapeutic ketamine infusions. You may feel a euphoric dreamlike state. Each person has a slightly different experience with ketamine.
While offering promising benefits to treat conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain, ketamine carries certain risks. These can include elevated blood pressure, nausea, dizziness, and dissociation during or after the infusion. In rare cases, some individuals may experience worsening mood symptoms.
We suggest bringing any items from your home that may make your experience comfortable and enjoyable. Wear comfortable layers (we will need access to your arm for IV).
We will provide you with a blanket, eye mask, and a Sonos speaker.
Feel free to bring your own personal:

Because ketamine can cause nausea in some people, we recommend you do not eat for 2-4 hours prior to your infusion. You may drink water before your infusion.
Be sure to hydrate the day before your infusion as well as for 72 hours after. Ketamine loves water.

We have medications to help prevent and mitigate any negative side effects.
If you experience uncomfortable side effects, we will titrate or turn off the infusion. It may take between 15-20 minutes to feel back to normal, but the effects begin wearing off quickly.
We have medications to treat nausea, blood pressure, or any issues that might arise.
Ketamine infusion therapy is unique in that it works differently than many other medications. It works on a different set of neurotransmitters in the brain, which helps it to have a more rapid and longer-lasting effect. This makes it an effective treatment for depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. It also helps to reduce pain and inflammation. Unlike many other medications, ketamine infusion therapy does not have a habit-forming potential and is generally well tolerated.
When administered as an IV infusion, ketamine is 100% bioavailable. Infusions can be titrated and tailored to the client's needs. If any negative side effects occur, the infusion can be immediately stopped and the effect begins to wear off quickly.
If ketamine is ingested as a pill, it goes through the first pass hepatic effect, making it less than 20% bioavailable. Intramuscular (IM) ketamine is approximately 90% bioavailable, however the dose given cannot be stopped or reversed. Intranasal ketamine is around 40-50% bioavailable. The dose administered cannot be reversed.
Mental Health:
We recommend a series of 6 infusions with booster infusions (if needed). There are 2 protocols and we will work with you to determine which is best for you. The most current recommendation developed by Actify Neuropathies is showing longer lasting results compared to the original protocol.
New Protocol:
Week 1: 2 infusions
Week 2: 2 infusions
Week 3: 1 infusion
Week 4: 1 infusion
Original Protocol:
6 initial infusions given 3x a week over 2 weeks
Pain Protocol:
Ketamine infusions for pain are most effective when given as subsequent 5-10 infusions over a 5-15 day timeframe.
Ketamine infusions for mental health last about 1 hour.
Ketamine infusions for pain last around 3-4 hours.
It typically takes 15-30 minutes after the infusion to feel like you can get up to use the bathroom. We will make sure you are safe to leave prior to discharge.
Everyone is different and responds differently to treatments. Generally speaking, most patients begin to feel the effects of ketamine treatment within the first session. However, the degree of improvement and how long it lasts can vary from patient to patient. It is important to discuss your individual goals and expectations with us so we can best tailor a treatment plan that works for you. We cannot guarantee results, but most people experience results that they are very happy with.
The low-dose infusions used for depression and mood disorders have not been shown to be addictive.
While we do not accept medical insurance directly, we are happy to provide you with a superbill after your treatment. This detailed document can be submitted to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.
Benzodiazepines (such as Xanax, Klonopin, Librium, or Valium) interfere with ketamine if they are at a high dose or are used daily. If you are currently on benzodiazepines, our suggestion is to avoid the medication 4-6 hours before the infusion as it makes it less effective.
No doctor's referral is needed to begin treatment with us.
